Architecture and continuing use
The standing pedestrian figure rises from a pink-granite base. A bronze high-relief inscribed “South Africa” connects the monument directly with Campbell-Bannerman’s opposition to British methods in the South African War.

Campbell-Bannerman represented Stirling Burghs from 1868 and served as prime minister from 1905 to 1908. Montford’s monument was erected in 1913 near the municipal complex.
