Galashiels Heritage Watch is the locally informed prototype from which parts of the Scotland’s Architecture method developed. It is a separate, deeper record of Galashiels’ lost, at-risk and overlooked built heritage.
The local site brings together building histories, photographs, source links, current risk notes, a heritage directory and a map. It also provides practical ways for local people to share evidence and report corrections.
Scotland’s Architecture uses the lessons of that work at a national scale: source contributions remain visible, uncertainty is retained, everyday buildings sit alongside recognised monuments, and location and image rights are checked explicitly.
Records are not copied automatically from one site to the other. A building considered for the national directory is reworked for the national format and checked again against its sources.
