Architecture and continuing use
Sandstone walls rise from a full lower storey on the sloping site. Traceried windows, stepped drip-moulds, tower and spire create an unusually elaborate urban church silhouette.
Its story
Built after a congregational dispute, it later became Allan Park South. The congregation moved after a 2020 union; the property was sold and later gained consent for conversion to a restaurant.
Why it is included
The building combines strong Peddie and Kinnear design with a current and publicly documented adaptive-reuse challenge.
What to notice
- How the undercroft absorbs the slope.
- Tower, spire and traceried windows.
- Gates and railings framing the elevated site.
