Architecture and continuing use

Twin gables, tall windows and finely worked red ashlar give the two-storey front a strong vertical rhythm. Original glass and decorative entrance and stair work enrich the public interior.

Completed in 1901, the library represents the expansion of municipal learning at the turn of the century. Continued adaptation has allowed several public services to share the building.
