Architecture and continuing use

Squared rubble and ashlar dressings define a three-bay aisleless nave and chancel. A gabled porch, tall lancets, stained glass, fixed pews, ribbed timber ceiling and carved pulpit create a coherent nineteenth-century worship space.

Its story

The congregation formed in 1841 and erected its church the following year, largely through James Marshall’s support. Consecration followed in 1843, and the building has remained part of Episcopal worship in eastern Perthshire.

Why it is included

Category B listing recognises an intact early work by John Henderson whose exterior, fittings, memorials and continuing use form a strong ecclesiastical ensemble.

What to notice

  • The five tall lancets on the Brown Street gable.
  • Diamond-pattern glazing and the eastern stained-glass window.
  • The four-centred timber ceiling above the nave.

Reading the surroundings

Attend an advertised service or contact the congregation before visiting. Respect worship and safeguarding arrangements, ask before photographing inside and do not assume the church is open between events.
