Architecture and setting
The octagonal structure stands on a stepped stone base. Slim columns with classical capitals support decorative brackets, a boarded roof and a tall finial. Railings define the performance platform without enclosing it like a conventional room.
Its story
The 1907 bandstand belongs to the development of municipal leisure in Crieff. Digital Open Doors identifies manufacture at Glasgow’s Elmbank Foundry. Its open form makes music and gathering, rather than shelter alone, central to the design.
Why it is included
Ornamental ironwork gives public recreation an architectural centrepiece.
