Architecture and continuing use
The rectangular block has a hipped slate roof, painted cement trim and tall sash windows. A central paired door sits beneath an astragalled fanlight and keystoned moulded surround. Nine buttressed bays line one side and seven the other, turning the long walls into a measured rhythm; a lower rear addition records later expansion.
Its story
The hall belongs to the early twentieth century, with planning evidence dating its addition to village facilities to 1926. It was listed at Category C in 1995. VisitArran’s 2026 diary advertises community activity at the hall, confirming use while not establishing continuous opening.
Why it is included
It embodies organised social life and provides a civic counterpart to the village’s churches, school, villas and former hotels.
What to notice
