A light river crossing whose cables and latticework make its structure easy to read.

The structure
Wire cables support the narrow span between lattice pylons. The walkway is stiffened by lattice girders, and the pylons carry decorative ball-and-spike finials.
Its story
Built in 1902, the bridge replaced a ferry after a fatal accident in 1901. HES names the Aberdeen engineering firm James Abernethy and contractor James Lawrence of Craigellachie.
Why it is included
It brings together practical river engineering and deliberately ornamental ironwork.
What to look for
- The cables and their suspension links.
- The latticework beside the walkway.
- The finials above the pylons.
Reading the surroundings
The bridge crosses the Spey west of the village. The map point identifies the span rather than either approach.
Timeline
- 1901 Fatal ferry accident preceded replacement.
- 1902 Footbridge constructed.
What we know — and what remains uncertain
Catalogue descriptions establish the original design; they do not provide a complete component-by-component record of later maintenance.
