Architecture, archaeology and continuing use
A rectangular harled church has tall round-arched windows, a restrained entrance and simple gabled roof. Internal adaptation supports hall use while the exterior retains its early nineteenth-century ecclesiastical character.
Its story
A dissenting congregation established an earlier church in 1776 and replaced it with the present building between 1827 and 1830. Subsequent congregational change brought the former Wishart Church into parish use as a hall.
Why it is included
The Category B building records religious plurality and shows how a redundant worship space can remain useful within an active parish complex.
What to notice
- Simple gabled meeting-house form.
- Tall round-arched windows.
- Limited ornament reflecting dissenting worship traditions.
Reading the surroundings
The hall opens for parish or community activities rather than continuous visiting. Attend advertised events, use the appropriate entrance and respect staff, users and any closed rooms.

What we know — and what remains uncertain
Internal adaptation may obscure earlier fittings, and access depends on the parish programme rather than heritage opening hours.
