Architecture and continuing use
The two-storey yellow-ashlar front is arranged symmetrically around a pilastered doorway, letterbox fanlight and pediment. Raised quoins, string courses, cornice and mainly paired windows provide a restrained but carefully finished composition. Painted gatepiers mark the approach.
Its story
The house was built later in the nineteenth century as Newmains and the Coltness estate expanded. Its scale, form and proximity suggest it may originally have been the church manse, although documentary proof is absent. The interior was later divided into two homes.
